1982-D

#1 Unread post by Mryan011 »

I came across these two Denver mint 1982-D pennies and need to be sure one may be a Denver mint error in which only one other has been known to exist? Clearly from the two photos the penny on the right is different than the one on the left. Notice how the word liberty falls down towards the bottom of the penny on the right? Also the #2 in the date is different than the one penny on the left? Clearly the Denver mint was making a change over to the zinc oxide coins.both are weighing at 3.1 grams.

Welcome to the forum.
Thanks for the images and posting the weight. The good news is that both coins weighing in at 3.1 grams indicates they are the copper (alloy) and not the plated zinc cents. happydance:
Unfortunately though, they both appear to be the same style of 2 (not different) and the same distance from the rim.
Check out this link to compare.

I'm afraid you haven't struck it rich this time.

Thanks for the reminder Daniel.
I've got to remember to use the search feature here before doing a Google search.
