1. Post a front and back image of your coin with a specific question about what you’re seeing or asking about and one coin per topic.
2. Please remove coin from the holder unless it’s US or an official mint case or unless it is graded by a grading service.
3. Images should be taken by a camera or cell phone camera, we ask that members don’t use images through a microscope screen.
4. Always start your own topic, please don’t ask about your coin or post your coin in someone else’s coin topic.
5. Do not send private messages about your coin unless an Admin ask you too and the same for sending emails through the board.
6. No spam. Do not post any links to your coin or other non-coin websites.
7. Always be respectful even if something makes you upset or you don’t agree with a member. You can always get a second opinion elsewhere. If you have an issue then politely ask an admin in an PM. PM’s are for issues, technical and personal, but not for coin questions (refer to number 5 on this list). Re: I have 2 odd ones
I'm assuming you mean post mint damaged? I'm not disagreeing I just think that the additional date on the shoulder and the fact that is a different date was odd and then my question was how is that types of error possible if at all because there is not any marking on the opposite side.although it is slightly concave and the other coin I will send photos of as soon as I get home tonight ..

Re: I have 2 odd ones
I could hammer a nail into a coin or the edge of another coin or metal object and there would be no evidence of this on the other side as long as it is shallow enough. All of these are contact marks and someone scratching the coin. This does not happen at the mint, the striking pressure if in tons and when something is struck through it doesn't look like this.

Re: I have 2 odd ones
can you hugeeyes the 'date' of the other coin on the shoulder?
....see how it is 'incused mirror imaged' ?
:eureka:
this means another coin was placed over this coin, & pressed into it

Re: I have 2 odd ones
The dime was damaged with a chisel or screw driver and is post mint damage; someone was playing with these coins.

Re: I have 2 odd ones
I agree with Daniel and Paul.
The extra 9 is reversed and incuse into the shoulder which is a sign of a "vise job" coin. Two coins placed together and pressed into each other with a vise, hammer or other heavy object.
