1860 Indian Head Cent: Topless Letters
Trying to grasp what happened to the second E in STATES and the O in Of. Lucky contact marks?
Considered purchase, but I couldn't make sense of these two topless letters.

Since the area seems to reflect more light then I would go with contact marks but odd that they occurred like that. Nice coin though.

Gotta agree with Daniel but I lost count of the E's.
Which E in STATES?
And it looks like the first T has a little anomaly where the left "flag" joins the cross bar.

I'm agreeing it's PMD. Just couldn't make sense that contact randomly chose the tops of a few letters from different clock positions.
