#1 Unread post by crodez » Sun Dec 03, 2017 11:22 am

Is it me or is one of these E's lower than the other or have I been looking at pennies too long.

Let's compare it to another, which is the best method here.
And, it seem's to be the same.

I agree, they're the same, and the OP's coin has some wear and is outlined in circulation grime which makes it appear more obvious.

Here's a question on the image Mark posted.
Is it die wear that causes the bottom bar of the E (in WE) to be curved, as opposed to straight?
And if that is what is causing the curve, does that mean the OP's coin is an earlier die stage but has more circulation wear?
Thanks.

It is a uncirculated and well struck specimen but the OP's coin has been worn and handled so the devices have too on a bit different shape because of that. Can look into die state and stage as well but too much differences in condition between the two coins for anything definitive.
