1. Post a front and back image of your coin with a specific question about what you’re seeing or asking about and one coin per topic.

2. Please remove coin from the holder unless it’s US or an official mint case or unless it is graded by a grading service.

3. Images should be taken by a camera or cell phone camera, we ask that members don’t use images through a microscope screen.

4. Always start your own topic, please don’t ask about your coin or post your coin in someone else’s coin topic.

Mint error?

#1 Unread post by ranson.stuck »

Can anyone tell me if this is a mint error or not? I can't seem to find anything online specific to this kind of damage/error!

I agree that this is post mint damaged. Looks cut then hammered a bit to flatten.

Thanks, I tried to get the best pics I could, I can't stand it when someone is trying to sell something or reach out for info and can't even do their part! It just shows lack of effort so one could only assume you'd get a lack of a response lol! It looked PMD to me also, but just something about the face just almost looks like it was die struck. Then again a good hammer strike could give a similar effect! I was just kinda curious if it was even possible to be die struck and get this result or not? Obviously if not it kinda puts the nail in the coffin.
