2. Please remove coin from the holder unless it’s US or an official mint case or unless it is graded by a grading service.
3. Images should be taken by a camera or cell phone camera, we ask that members don’t use images through a microscope screen.
4. Always start your own topic, please don’t ask about your coin or post your coin in someone else’s coin topic.
5. Do not send private messages about your coin unless an Admin ask you too and the same for sending emails through the board.
6. No spam. Do not post any links to your coin or other non-coin websites.
7. Always be respectful even if something makes you upset or you don’t agree with a member. You can always get a second opinion elsewhere. If you have an issue then politely ask an admin in an PM. PM’s are for issues, technical and personal, but not for coin questions (refer to number 5 on this list). Re: Found in my pocket change...
hmmmmm,
from these pics,....this hugeeyes 's more like "PMD" (post mint damage), than a "capped hit".
can you describe to me what leads you to believe it's a "capped die" strike, please ??

Re: Found in my pocket change...
A capped die is a coin that got stuck on the die and usually looks like a bottle cap, although there's different stages and some can looks different. Your coin looks like post mint damage and not a mint error.

Re: Found in my pocket change...
Certainly is some post strike damage but there also seems to be some weakness in the devices above and below the Memorial, which is why I was wondering about the weight. Just trying to rule out possible mint errors. (thin or split planchet, struck through grease, lamination or others). As an example, is that the edge of a lamination leading north from the 1 of the date?

Also images need to be taken with the coin removed from the holder so we can see it better. Thanks

**Hi Mr.Pete....I just took 2 more pic.s, esp. for you...concerning your question ,re: date {1}...and it does feel a little thinner in the middle--I used another 1966 cent for comparison...and no split planchet. I really do not 'think' [not a real authority, yet, on this] it has laminating issues or grease deposits embedded...again, 'think' is the key word here, for me, sorry. Thanks, hope this helps!!! astralea1692

Re: Found in my pocket change...
It's a damaged coin and not a mint error. You can see all the gouges and damage marks from where a person did this to the coin.
