Thanks for posting images of both sides of the coin.
It is more likely to be Post Strike Damage (PSD) or a stain.

I'm not 100% sure, but this might be what could technically be referred to as struck through grease. (A "Dropped" letter fits in this category, I believe).
Sometimes grease gets on the die and fills some device or design. Normally this shows up as missing designs (or letters/numbers) on a coin. Occasionally this grease falls out ("Dropped") and can land on a planchet before it is struck by the dies. When this happens it usually creates an incuse (recessed) impression on the coins surface.

I cannot tell from your images if the area in question is raised, recessed or neither. (Neither would indicate a stain to me.)

I hope my desription is more helpful than confusing!

This is post mint damage if it was a dropped letter it would be the same shape and size of a letter from this coin.

Thanks D. I thought it was similar in size to a D from the reverse but maybe distorted from being struck by the die.
But now that I'm picturing it in my mind (dropping a letter), it would be difficult for a dropped letter from the reverse (bottom die) to "jump" up onto the obverse (top) side of a planchet prior to being struck.
(Out of curiosity what years has the mint had the reverse as the hammer die?)

The reverse is always the hammer die and I don't know of any exceptions.

i also measured it with calipers idk if that matters but it matched the D on other side as close as i could . 1.52mm wide 1.74mm tall. if that matters.

Not sure if the info in the link is actually relevant to this coin but sheds some light on inverted dies.

Follow this link to Error-ref.com for info on "inverted" dies.
