PCS Coin Slabs

#1 Unread post by tandrlik »

I bought a PCS Coin on Ebay that looks really nice and I question it's grading since it was inexpensive and graded so high. I'm trying to find the website for this company PCS and I can't find it.
Can anyone help me? I have searched and searched. Thanks!

Can't help you find a website, not even PCS can help you, since they're not a real grading service. It's a dealer or coin seller that grades, slabs and sells their own coins so people will pay more for them then if they sold them NOT in the slabs.

You will not find a website for PCS because none exist. I urge you to get your money back, and do not patronize sellers who grade their own coins just to get more profit. Many of these coins do not meet any grading standard and often are cleaned to look bright and shiny. I know that all of this might come off as a bit crude to you, but the act of buying a PCS coin tells me you don't know a lot about coin grading in general, even if you think the coin is nice, that doesn't mean it's worth what you paid or that it's graded correctly.

But if you're fine with the coin's eye appeal and condition then keep it, since it's up to the collector on what they want to buy. However, if you bought this coin because you thought you were getting a great deal on a high grade and valuable coin then the seller got one over on you, and you should return it.

Please, you and any other person who reads this DO NOT buy any coin that's NOT in an ANACS, PCGS, NGC or ICG holder, unless you have years of experience in grading and authenticating coins!

:agree: I think what the did is what they do in the Counterfeit Watch business. They used the first three letters of PCGS like some counterfeit watches will say something like " Rolax" or other names that look like Rolex. What kind of slab did it come in and did the label have a serial number like the other Graders do ? Do you have a Picture of it for learning purposes ?

PCS is the slabbers made up acronym and they do put labels and fake serial numbers to make them look more legit. I have images of well over a hundred listed on the main website and several articles about these services. I think they need updated with some larger images of the coins and more info. Good to know there's more work to do. lol

Sorry to see anyone taken by a false slab. Even with the legitimate grading companies, buy the coin, not the slab! It is only worth what the coin is. I just bought a mess of a self slabbers stuff. I know what that slab is worth. It is protection for the coin, no more. Dan

tandrlik , Are you sure it's slabbed by PCS and not NCS ?? The reason I ask is there is a NCS Grader which is an affiliate of NGC.
Just checking.

NCS is for conservation of coins and not grading.
