anacs slabs
I have acquired several Peace dollars in the yellow labeled slabs. My 1921 states cleaned au58 details. How does a coin that is labeled as cleaned compare to an uncleaned coin in same grade? Is there a significant difference? Would rarity of coin keep value even though its been "cleaned"?

Re: anacs slabs
A 1921 in an AU58 details holder is worth 50% less of listed book. ANACS holders also bring less of a premium compared to PCGS and NGC. So you have that to consider as well.

Re: anacs slabs
Thanks for the reply Daniel but I think it has made me more confused. I completely understand that anacs is bottom of 3 major grading companies. What has me confused is how a 1921 Peace can only be worth melt value. Would this coin be worth sending in to NGC or PCGS for a more accurate grade? Or is it the fact that someone had "cleaned" it that would discriminate an honest grade or determine a value?

Re: anacs slabs
A photo would be good.
If it is in a ANACS, NGC or PCGS holder, ebay sold prices for AU58 details seem to be about $95-$190. (Such a wide spread is common with Details coins.)
Unrecognized holder, or raw is selling at about $50-$85.
So, I'm a bit confused on the melt value statement as well.
Not cleaned is running closer to $150-$250 depending on the actual coin and holder.
So, cleaning, as stated by Daniel, reduces the price by about half.
Depending on how much you have in the coin plus $50 to re-slab, means you may get nothing out of it.

My bad was thinking 1921 Morgan Dollar, I was still half asleep or something. Mhonzell is correct in his assessment.

Re: anacs slabs
Thank you gentleman. That really helps a bit. I think best to just keep it in the Anacs. BTW Daniel- don't worry about any misunderstanding. I appreciate what you are doing and everyone has mornings like that.

Re: anacs slabs
A coin like this is going to sell for around a $100. I sold a couple AU problem coins for around that at the last two shows.
Yeah, it's why we prefer images with questions easier not to get confused. Thanks for posting and always glad to help anytime.
