that was my thought, with these pics....
this is a good example of why i need to see/hold/feel/touch/taste/smell, well, maybe not 'taste' (smell sometimes, yea...hit with torch, 'oiled', chemically altered surface...), & NOT, TO JUST USE PICTURES ONLY to attribute coins.

Im hurting for money for the holidays so i just listed this one on ebay as 1825 Double Struck Flip Over Error mashed PMD Coronet Large Cent started it at .99c with no reserve here is the link if anyone is interested in it

Just happened to come across this post again and got to wondering if the multiple images could be caused by rotated clashed dies and then double struck? :confused:

A coin could be struck by a clashed die more than once and a slight rotation could happen.
