Question about $20 bills

#1 Unread post by rrr123 »

Hi,

I received a series of 9 $20 bills from someone who purchased a bedroom set from me. These are series 2009, and the serial numbers are all in numerical order: starting with JE 68854759 C through JE 68854767 C. All seem crisp and stark new. Are they worth anything, or worth holding onto, would anyone know?

Thanks in advance for any info!

Rose

Any notes in crisp and unirculated condition an has consecutive serial numbers s worth keeping and you can find collectors that will pay a little above face for them.

Thank you for such a fast answer! Do you think it's better selling on EBAY or to take to a local collector?

I think you would get the most value at ebay, but it will cost around 13% percent of your final value and that includes paypal fees. So you should research and so some math to figure the best option.

Can I just step in here ? I personally don't think it worth the time to sell them and like Daniel said the profit margin might not be worth the trouble. Now if they were Star Notes then that would be a different story. Also, if they were old Currency or Fancy serial numbers than that would change things also.
I say spend the money. I would think it's a common thing to see if you go to a bank and ask for a pack of a certain denomination that the serial numbers would be in order. Someone just posted a pack of $1 bills that were all star notes and in I'm assuming in consecutive order.
Daniel, am I correct to say that packs of Currency are in consecutive order a lot of the time or do they often come in random order ? I never received packs of currency. I'm guessing you would have to ask for them or be a retail store where your getting Currency from say Wells Fargo.
Have a great weekend and great question !

Thanks 2centsal -- I appreciate the time saved of selling if it's not necessary. I"m attaching a photo of 2 of them in case that provides any insight. What is your opinion (anyone) --- spend or sell?

Thank you :)

Rose

and PS --- I have to say, this is an AWESOME website --- so informative and helpful!

You have two nice notes with consecutive serial numbers, if you don't have to spend them then put them in a flat plastic holder and hold onto them. The notes are new so they don't have much, if any premium, but you never know 20 years down the road.

I guess it all depends on what you collect how much they mean to you. Do you collect currency?
