Star Note ? and collecting Unique Serial Numbers

#1 Unread post by 2centsal »

Hello everyone. I have two issues.
1.) I have a 2006 Star Note. In my Currency Book it lists the Note by Districts. since it's a Newer Note, how do I know which District it is from ? Under the Serial # is a E5. Is the E the District, which would correspond to Richmond ? also, it shows prices for the Washinton D.C and Fort Worth Facility. I know mine is a D.C Facility Note because the little number on the top right doesn't start with a FW. If it is Richmond like I think it is, I'm wondering why my book doesn't list that one. I saw the exact same note online except the serial # was different of course for $75 in CU condition. Could that be right? Here is the Note:

2.) I also have one of those Multiple same number Serial #'s which is JD44496444A. Are 6 digit ones collectable as well. I've seen 7's and a few 6's but not with 2 numbers in between. I guess to some it would be worth more if it was 69 instead of 96 but it still must be worth something to a collector of these kind of Notes, right? Is there a Price Guide per say or is Ebay once again my only source to research ? One last thing, as usual some idiot stamped the Note next to Jackson's face. The thing is the print isn't from a stamper. It looks like it was printed on there because it doesn't look like its washable. Here is that Note:

You might by the latest edition of this book Red Book Of Paper Money

I love these books, great photo, values, etc. The 3rd edition is the most recent.

The first bill appears be Richmond and since it's a Star not it can bring double face and up. My second edition of this books doesn't have the values listed, the 3rd edition might.

There's a collector base for serial number oddities but since these are modern notes their premuim hasn't be established much. No one can know yet just how many where made. Also value will always be in the hands of the collector and what they would pay for it.

Thanks Daniel. I actually have that book. It list the Notes along with the Star Note Price. I like this book better than any other that I've bought in the past.
Yea, I found a website that had a guy selling the Same year and with the same District for $75. I don't know what that stamp is someone made, but I wish it wasn't there.
This is also my first 6 digit same number note like this. I just wonder if it makes a difference that the two numbers aren't on the end instead of the middle?
What do you think it would cost for someone to look at that Dime ? I know it's easy to pass it off as an After mint creation, but for some reason I think it might be legitimite. Then again, it's a 1965 and wouldn't you think someone else would of checked it out long ago ?
Can you get me some Contact Info. ? Maybe I'll have an expert look at it for the heck of it. It just bothers me not knowing for sure.
Thanks Daniel.

P.S -- Hey if you ever join the MD'ing Forum, you welcome to enter the contests as well. There is a Pre-post minimum I think. It keeps "lurkers" from jumping in, joinng and playing the contest. It's like going to a Bingo hall the night the Jackpot has to go and winning. All the ladies who have spent weeks playing get really upset. The good thing is the members like me can set up their own Contest and rules. Those items for this Month are all mine .
