For identifying ancient coins, the best and most comprehensive site has to be:
http://www.wildwinds.com

Also useful for Roman coins is the research page at "dirty old coins" (Rasiel Suarez, author of Encyclopedia of Roman Imperial Coins, runs it):
http://dirtyoldcoins.com/Roman-Coins.html
http://dirtyoldcoins.com/roman/Roman-Emperors.html

For prices realized in auctions and sales from several dozen auction houses and retail websites:
http://acsearch.info

and medieval coin results:
http://mcsearch.info

Current retail sales/prices:
http://www.vcoins.com
http://www.numismall.com

Best individual retail site has to be Joe Sermarini's http://www.forumancientcoins.com
"Website" doesn't really convey what it is. More like a community and knowledge base combined: not only a catalog of coins for sale, but a full encyclopedia of classical numismatic topics written by members, also hosts numerous specialized educational websites on coins (mostly ancient) created by members
