Hello CHU Community,
I've had a few worn Kennedy Half Dollars tucked away for a few years and not paid much attention to them. However, I just obtained a roll of 1976 ones from a relative along with a few of the silver 1960s dates in uncirculated condition. This new addition has peaked my interest in trying to fill a folder with them (I took the leap and bought the folder already, so now I'm committed. I can't accept defeat. LOL!!!). How is the best way to collect them? Search bank coin rolls? Buy lots on eBay (I see several that are advertised as BU "decade sets" cut from mint sets still in the plastic, like 1990-1999 sold together in one lot. Are these legit?)? Buy directly from a coin dealer?
Unlike searching for and filling a folder full of Lincoln cents, these are a little different. Maybe it's the increase in denomination that has me wondering about it. Also, I understand searching bank rolls can be the "enjoy the journey" route and buying a prepared lot is the more "direct" route.
What are your thoughts?
Thanks for any and all help.
Happy Collecting!

Yea very much so. I prefer to do both if I was you . I'm eager to see what others choose though .

Buy them one coin at a time anytime you can find one, and just enjoy completing a collection.

I bought a folder went to the bank and got some rolls they had, it put a good dent in my album. I even got a couple silver. The rest were all common dates. I had fun doing it this way.

Re: Collecting Kennedy Half Dollars (Advice Needed)
Yeah, I think it would be more satisfying to fill a folder by roll hunting, and purchasing individuals if needed, like Daniel said. While visiting my bank earlier today, I asked the manager about withdrawing coin rolls. She said they were fine with it and that I could deposit coins as long as they were in rolls. I think I'm going to deposit at a separate bank branch so I'm not possibly looking through my own returned rolls in the future.
Thanks!
