Alias: Missouri 2*4 or Missouri 2-by-4; Missouri Plain.

Occasion: Fund-raking for the Missouri Centennial Exposi­tion and State Fair, Sedalia, Aug. 8-20, 1921, commemorating statehood, Aug. 10, 1820.

Designs: The frontiersman was originally intended to repre­sent Daniel Boone (1734-1820), possibly after the Albin Pala­sek bust of Boone in the NYU Hall of Fame. On 7450, the 2*4 means "twenty-fourth State." On rev., a frontiersntan is sending an Indian away, symbolic or the white settlers' expelling Native Americans front Missouri Territory; the 24 stars represent the Union upon admission of Missouri. Monogram RA = Robert Aitken, designer.

Authorizing Act: March 4, 1921.

Mintage: Authorized, 250,000; coined, 2*4, [5,000), plain. (45,000 + 28 assay), July 1921; melted, plain, 29,500.

Proofs: One matte proof 2*4 reported, probably for John R. Sinnock.

Grades: F to UNC. Many were mishandled or spent.

First Wear Points: Hair behind Boone's ear; frontiersman's shoulder and arm.

That is actually the reverse portrate meaning? I was told that it was the two speaking about where to settle on the land for the best use. Mine was by word of mouth, yours is knowledge. It is funny how stories change through the years.
