7. Always be respectful even if something makes you upset or you don’t agree with a member. You can always get a second opinion elsewhere. If you have an issue then politely ask an admin in an PM. PM’s are for issues, technical and personal, but not for coin questions (refer to number 5 on this list). How To Clean An Iron Coin?

Hello all,

I have a German coin which is Iron composition and very dark. I just want to clean the coin a little bit but not sure how. Does anyone know?

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

I am not sure how to safely clean iron, maybe another member will know something. Is it a rare coin and worth NGC's conservation service?

Well, Palh1. The coin is not rusting or corroded but dark color, and I think by oxidized.

It might be best left alone unless you're just wanting to experiment. I don't mess with steel coins like that myself.
