A new international partnership has been established between the Professional Coin Grading Service and the New Zealand Mint, one of the first world mints to adopt the .9999 standard for gold coin purity.
PCGS announced the partnership in a Feb. 19 news release.
Under the agreement, PCGS will grade selected examples of the mint's new commemorative and bullion issues, such as the gold Kiwi bullion coins, and will establish a submission center at the mint in Auckland, New Zealand, for the convenience of local collectors and dealers to submit coins for PCGS certification.
"PCGS is pleased to partner with the New Zealand Mint to allow submissions of vintage as well as modern commemorative issues for authentication and grading," said Don Willis, president of PCGS. "The New Zealand Mint has been producing coins of the highest quality for over four decades and is justifiably proud of its design and production work."
Gary McNabb, managing director of New Zealand Mint Ltd., commented: "PCGS is the standard in the USA and will enhance awareness and interest in the secondary coin market in New Zealand."
He said the new program will begin in June with the planned opening of a service center for local coin collectors.
McNabb, Willis and other officials of the New Zealand Mint and PCGS met during the recent World Money Fair in Berlin, Germany. The agreement with the New Zealand Mint is similar to the partnership announced earlier between PCGS and the Mint of Poland.

1. Post a front and back image of your coin with a specific question about what you’re seeing or asking about and one coin per topic.
2. Please remove coin from the holder unless it’s US or an official mint case or unless it is graded by a grading service.
3. Images should be taken by a camera or cell phone camera, we ask that members don’t use images through a microscope screen.
4. Always start your own topic, please don’t ask about your coin or post your coin in someone else’s coin topic.
5. Do not send private messages about your coin unless an Admin ask you too and the same for sending emails through the board.
6. No spam. Do not post any links to your coin or other non-coin websites.
7. Always be respectful even if something makes you upset or you don’t agree with a member. You can always get a second opinion elsewhere. If you have an issue then politely ask an admin in an PM. Re: PCGS Partners With New Zealand Mint
That's too bad. I imagine this will be the beginning of a downward slope of bias for PCGS. Their conservative side was always nice though.
