ΓΕΡΜΑΝΙΚΟΣ (Germaikos)
It is hard to refute the Greek lettering on the coin.

What I find for Caligula is written in Latin: GERMANICVS, with exception to this one:

I think the reverse is a stag (deer). A similar coin (not the same) would be RPC I 3134 making this a Provincial Coin.

I see. So if this is genuine is must be very rare becuase I cant even find it on wildwinds or vcoins.

Is that what it means by unlisted?

Unlisted means no one else has publicly cataloged this coin.

If you found a reference that positively indicates it was made at a particular mint for a particular ruler, then a museum would pay nicely to show this and it would get cataloged. Without it being cataloged, rarity has no meaning as you cannot provide proof that it is one of ten known, or one of five million made, just undiscovered, so far.

Wow. also means its highly unlikely this could be a forgery right?

It is not likely a forgery, unless an ancient forgery.

On the OP's coin does the pointed Chin (beard?) play any significance in the ID?

Possibly the pointy chin would help if we could find the actual coin. For me, the style of lettering is most significant.

I still don't think it's Caligula. (Especially not a radiated bust.)

Then i guess it must be germanicus beacuse nobody comes close. I guess the seller was right

Do you agree that the quality looks a liitle too good for a Spanish Imitation ?
