1696 Great Britain Crown - William III

#1 Unread post by ATT2121 »

Hello Everyone!!

This coin is on EBay from a reputable dealer. He’s grading it as F/VF and is asking around $170. I’m new to grading, especially 17th century English coins. Any advice or comments would really be appreciated

I’m thinking about offering $160 including shipping. My inexperienced eyes thinks that F/VF is a very generous estimation. But again, I’m a novice and would appreciate anyone’s opinion. Thanks in advance for any help!

i would pass on this---too much wear around edge--also looks damaged--shop around--spend a little more money and buy one that is slabbed---

I agree, has a bit of damage. I would shop around a bit as well and not buy from sellers that want graded prices for raw coins.

Thank you both for your input and advice! I’ve decided to only buy graded coins from this era unless it’s from someone I trust, such as yourself, and have the chance to actually examine the coin in person. Thanks, guys
