#1 Unread post by RomanGreekCoins »

https://www.ebay.com/usr/shaverraver?_t ... 7675.l2559

this seller has been proven to sell cast fakes

He also uses multiple ebay accounts to raise his bids .. hoping they would raise the auction up and draw people to bid for them too. ( nearly all his bidders are private listing - bidders' identities protectedprivate listing - bidders' identities protected)

The question is are all of them fake?

can you tell in the photos?

:eureka:
if someone is purchasing an item over the internet, that can be "VERIFIED GENUINE" by
a 'third party service' (i mean A-N-Y-T-H-I-N-G,... gems, paintings, comics, coins, ... so on), & you as a buyer cannot 'AUTHENTICATE THE VALIDITY' (a C.O.A,) of its nature as "RAW", either before or after you purchase it ...

.... your best to stay with buying only items that have already been "CERTIFIED" by a reputable service ... JMO

I would add:

1. To minimize the burn, buy coins only within a certain price range until you can 'Authenticate' the validity' yourself.
I have purchased most of my ancient coins as bulk lots that needed cleaning. Cleaned them myself to understand the process. Identified them to teach myself how to get through the books and find them on the internet. And, made comparisons in the varieties, dimensions and weights between "the same" coins from different mints. At $3-$6 per coin, I didn't feel the burn when I came across a fake coin. After several years of this, I don't have an issue purchasing higher quality $100-$200 coins. But, they are still photos that you are buying and you will still get burned. Only you know how much you are willing to spend on a fake coin! (And, there are sellers for every price range.)

2. If a seller raises a red flag for you, you should not consider anything that seller has as authentic. They may just be better fakes.
