1898 Mexican Centavos or Not

#1 Unread post by Leonel »

Hi,

I was given this coin as a gift. Is this really an 1898 coin, or a more modern coin with a wrong date? How valuable is it?

Thanks

Leonel

I apologize for the blurry pictures. Thanks.

Best way to tell is start with an internet search for the date and country and see what turns up. You'll be amazed at the numismatic information that will sidetrack you for hours. hugeeyes

They didn't look like this in 1898. I think it is a 1989 50 centavos.

Thank you. I asked my friend, and he confirmed that it was a modern coin. Thanks. Leonel.
