We just call these Chinese Cash Coins and some can be worth money, but since most are not then I never bother much to ID date and Dynasty.

Actually, it's Japanese Cash. 4 Mon, 11 wave.
1768-1860, Meiwa era

The Japanese Shogunate (military leadership) cast these coins in the 4 mon denomination with both 11 and 21 waves on the reverse. In general the 11 wave coins are a tad more valuable than the 21 wave type, but condition, more than anything, affects value the most.

There were two types of this 4 mon, 11 wave coin made. The one above is the more common type known as the "fuei" type (based on the shape of the left character.)

As usual with Chinese/Japanese coins, lots of counterfeits. Even pristine, this coin would look kind of rough and was common enough that it's only worth a couple of dollars.

They made their coins a little differently back then.

Hi Everyone, Mhonzell's pic of these coins looks like the top of a fence post or something! I really thought coin was to worn to tell what it actually was! Thanks for taking the time to investigate. Didn't think coin was that old.Didn'tthink it was worth much but was curious as to were from and how old . Thanks All...
