2014 Libertad

#1 Unread post by mhonzell »

I finally lost my mind!
I bought this coin at an absurd premium, but then, there were only 400 made, it is a proof, and it is an absolutely amazing coin.

A kilo, pure silver, raw coin, in it's original packaging.
I've placed a 1987 Walking Liberty nearby to allow you to compare sizes.
Photos were taken free hand since it didn't exactly fit my prior setup. Lines are in the plastic casing.

On the front: The coat of arms of Mexico surrounded by historical Mexican coats of arms.
On the reverse: A winged Victoria of Mexican Independence Victory Column in front of a landscape with the volcanoes Popocatépetl and Iztaccihuatl.

PALH1, there are a few slabbed. Most are business strikes. Funny thing is the few slabbed proofs sell for quite a bit less.

Seems this group of collectors want the OGP. And, I have to agree... The packaging on this one is nice.

Beautiful coin and gorgeous presentation box. Some of these large coins are works of art. I saw some from Australia that were well done. This one is a stunner.

Mesmerizing coin with depth and detail. Contrast between the US Liberty dollar and your Libertad, for me anyway, is the image comparing the two edges side by side. Wow.
