Hi my name is james and I collect all different types of coins from all over the world and also have a few error coins. There is one in particular that I have had for almost 20 years now that has a unique error that I have never seen myself. It is a 1950 something Canadian 1 cent coin. I say 1950 something because the error is covering the last number in the date. I would like any info I can get as far as what the value may be for this type of error coin if any. I will post a pic of it as well. Any info would be great! Thanks
P.s. before any asks I would like to clear up that no I did not stick anything on it or alter it in any way. Its metal to metal not welded same metal and finish as the coin just cut that way I guess. Seems weird but very real. Again thanks for any help with this.
question about error coin!

Re: question about error coin!
This little piece of metal was soldered onto this coin, I can see that much from the images, plus there's some discoloration from the heat.
If the planchet was made like this then the dies would have struck this "extra" metal and it would not look like this, it would have been smashed and have some of the coin's design struck on it.
After the strike there's no part of the process that could add this, not during the process either, but the minting process is finished after the strike. So this is post mint damage for certain.
