Wasn't metal detecting, but.......

#1 Unread post by pahwa »

This is a 1923 F Buffalo Nickle my son found while digging in the back yard. Of course he went out with the metal detector to search and didn't find a thing. it has been in the ground a long time ans is in very poor condition, but cool just the same. Man that kid is lucky......

It might have some environmental damage but the coin has some great details, at least the date is solid. Good find. My wife found a 1943 Mercury Dime digging in our backyard and a metal detector run didn't come up with anything else either.

What are the odds. lol I detected around our old house before we sold it and came up with a few cents and a 50 cent piece. I don't even know where it is anymore.

I know of many places considered detected out but some people still find something.

Nice finds anyway. That is lucky of him to make the finds. Metal detecting is always largely depends on luck. Sometime you find only trash even with the best metal detector. But sometimes treasure just pop out when the least expected.
