Guess again....wood can last hundreds of years submerged underwater.
Millions of years if conditions are right. Well it becomes petrified anyway. But you are so correct, under water in good conditions wood can last many hundreds of years.
There is one things that is interesting with this find is the lack of bacterial growth on the metal unless it was cleaned off.
