Nice pocket spill

#1 Unread post by Nolifeking »

Well after weeks of taking it easy I finally decided to go out again. I recently got permission to MD a house that was built in 1884 that was a blacksmith shop and then a cheese factory. Tons and tons of hunks of iron near the house. I wasted a lot of time covering the yard. Finally noticing two very large oak trees. 100 years plus. I decided to try my luck by them. I immediated started finding tons of pull tabs from the 60's. Finally I found my first coins. I dug a 1963 nickel, 1944 merc, and a 1951 dime all from the same hole. About 5 feet from there I came up with the 1944 wheatie. All the old coins I found between the two trees. Little did I know after I gave it up for the day that the landowner told me the northwest side of one of the oak trees had a swing set under it years ago. I'm pumped to go back. Coincidentally the Northwest side is the side the I covered the least in my search deciding just to work the ground in between the two trees.

Nice find. I hope the area under the swing proves fruitful.

I hope so too. If it is you guys will be the first to know :l There is a lot of nice ground in the area. Not too trashy minus the pull tabs every 5 feet. I forgot to mention. Not sure if it is significant or not, but at the base of one of the oak trees I found a brick and shards of a very old looking plate with patterns on it. I scanned the spot very closely in case the brick and plate were marking something important. I came up with three newer bullets, but that was it. Not sure what they were doing there. I'd really like to go out tomorrow after work, but I don't know if I should with it being labor day. The landowner is a good family friend and said that I could come anytime whether he was home or not, but he didn't say much about labor day. :(
