Head for the Woods!!!

#1 Unread post by Nolifeking »

I'm not sure how applicable this is for everyone, but where I live the parks have been pounded hard and the old coin pickings are slim. Just had an idea of alternative spots to find old coins. If the park has any wooded area no matter how remote they may be a good place to look. Look for walking paths for joggers that cut through the woods. If the trails are old enough try along the trails, but if your like me these trails have been picked over. The best spot to try is in the wooded area surrounding these trails. I cut through a random patch of woods today at my park and after an hour turned up a wheatie and an old pistol cartridge. Think of it this way....40 years ago the little patch of woods may have been where people liked to picnic, or maybe young kids would sneak off in the woods and drink. Also wooded areas are logged every 10-20 years so you never know if a logger dropped something good. Hope if helps someone find something good!
