Pistol Probe

#1 Unread post by Nolifeking »

Well I just got my pistol probe in the mail today, so I thought I'd give everybody a little review on it. I'd have to say that it is the best pinpointer I've ever used. It will cost you about $50 more dollars that the average pinpointers (whites bullseye and garrett's propointer), but you are getting a lot better unit. You can get the pinpointer from ebay for about $170. This pinpointer is a lot larger than both the bullseye and the propointer, but it feels very natural to hold it. It has a very comfy feel to it despite it's size which would have to be double of most pinpointers. It gives you the ability to adjust the sensitivity and the pitch of the beep. You can also choice between always on, or the next three which are push and hold button on: high volume, low volume, and silent only using a light as an indicator of a target. This pinpointer has amazing range and power and will have no problem seeing 4+ inches in the dirt and air on a coin size target. I've heard of these going up to 6 inches, but I have had that much luck yet. I believe I'm getting to much interference where I'm hunting, but 4+ inches is a HUGE step up from my bullseye of only 1 inch. I owe an 8" wheat penny find today to the pistol probe. I dug 6" and I wanted to give up, but the probe was still giving me a solid signal even though my bullseye wasn't doing anything. I decided to keep digging. Then finally at 8" I pulled up a nice wheatie 1935. This pinpointer is useful for shallow coins as well. You can used it before you even dig a hole and get an extremely accurate reading of where the coin is. On deeper coins it is a must to help locate the coin in the hole so you know where to dig and when to expect to find the coin. Metal detecting before having this seems like the dark ages now. I hope everybody gets a change to try one of these out someday. I'll put up some of my recent finds one of these days. Right now it's mostly clad although I found my first half dollar today!
