1. Post a front and back image of your coin with a specific question about what you’re seeing or asking about and one coin per topic.
2. Please remove coin from the holder unless it’s US or an official mint case or unless it is graded by a grading service.
3. Images should be taken by a camera or cell phone camera, we ask that members don’t use images through a microscope screen.
4. Always start your own topic, please don’t ask about your coin or post your coin in someone else’s coin topic.
5. Do not send private messages about your coin unless an Admin ask you too and the same for sending emails through the board.
6. No spam. Do not post any links to your coin or other non-coin websites.
7. Always be respectful even if something makes you upset or you don’t agree with a member. You can always get a second opinion elsewhere. If you have an issue then politely ask an admin in an PM. PM’s are for issues, technical and personal, but not for coin questions (refer to number 5 on this list). Re: Post mint damage?
Daniel,
Do you have a link to photos of die gouge errors? I have looked but am having trouble finding one that I can see clearly.
Thanks much,
Clyde

I will see if I have an image. A die gouge will look like a small chunk of the coin fell out, and inside the gouge will look grainy and bumpy. You will need a magnifier to see this.

Hey guys,
I looked with the micro scope and it really looks like the mountain had a piece fall out of it. (didn't hit the hiker) If this is a die gouge or suspect thereof, is it something to send off to someone and if so who?
Thanks again,
Clyde

Re: Post mint damage?
It's not worth a fortune and it will never be a variety because it's a definate mint error. However, State Quarter errors are popular and worth keeping.
Re: Post mint damage?
If it is worth 25.01 cents I'll keep it. Looks like I found my first mint error.Daniel wrote:It's not worth a fortune and it will never be a variety because it's a definate mint error. However, State Quarter errors are popular and worth keeping.
Now I keep looking for the next one. Thank you guys so very much.

I feel the same way. Your coin would sell for more than a cent over 25 cents at ebay I guarantee that.clyde wrote:If it is worth 25.01 cents I'll keep it. Re: Post mint damage?
The coin appears normal to me when you compare it to an original image of the coin. It's hard to tell what's going on in your photo, but it appears to just be a normal quarter. Better photos would help too. Here the original image

Re: Post mint damage?
Hey there Nolife,
Thank you for taking the time to respond to me. Being a newbie I can use all the help that I can get. This coin, where the "V" is in the (for lack of a better word) cave is looks to be missing. It is quite deep and does not have the detail that the coin I am matching it to does.
Any thoughts would be great. Thanks much,
Clyde
