Dansco vinyl sleeves? Should I avoid them?

#1 Unread post by Jaystrabinick2 »

Hello Coin help U community,
I was hoping someone could help me out with this, I have some Dansco albums for my Lincoln cents with the regular pages. I like the look and style of the Dansco books so I wanted to keep my collection uniform. I keep my higher quality coins in the Mylar flips separate but I have some better quality (in between what I would keep in Mylar flips but much nicer than the ones in my Dansco album pages) I have those coins in 2x2 cardboard flips. I wanted to add them into a Dansco binder but my problem is with the vinyl pages that are available that fit the Dansco album. Does anyone know if these are fine to use or is there another one that would be better that fit in the Dansco album? I’d really appreciate some input because I’ve always heard not to use vinyl but I don’t know if since the coins are in the 2x2 flips that may be alright.

Try the pocket pages I don't know of any other way.

Hey J, here is a scholarly article regarding plastic and coin storage. Most of the flips, and 2x2s if not all, sold now by reputable dealers and coin supply houses are Mylar. The page really does not matter as long as you have a Flip or 2x2 between the coin and the page.

I am not sure, but maybe this place might have something, (if not maybe they should get some of this stuff in stock, ahem, ahem) they are generally too humble to be self promoting, unlike some of us, so I am promoting them hehehehe.
