$20 Large cent set is hot this month with #3 1847/7
This one surprised me... I generaly stick to 1-2 a month, but put in the sellers opening bid last week of $19.99 and then forgot about it. Never expected to win it but blazes sometimes you get lucky :D On a side note the scratch makes it a details grade without a doubt, but even still a great catch for a $20

Cannot beat it for the price!
Common grading company shortcomings & resulting co$tly mi$take$ to collectors (using Kennedy No FG halves):

Ok , I would be interested in this type of coin if I was to be shopping for some, {not yet}. My question is , do these add intrinsic value to a collection or just fill a spot in it.

Re: $20 Large cent set is hot this month with #3 1847/7
Depends on the coin.. the 47/7 was common enough to be included in the Dansco 7099 album while the 1840 includes large date, small date and large 18 but not the small date over large overdate... so it does not include all the varities... not by a long shot... made over 64 years... 63 dates (didn't make any in 1815 and the 1804 cent is as rare as the silver dollar of the same year) but probably close to 300 varities all told counting overdates, different heads, large, medium, small, tall and thin dates etc.. 112 slots in the album 101 of them labeled 11 blank for the ones not listed. So yes any added varieties do add to the value of the set both intrinsicly and financialy. Honestly this is one of my favorites sets, but I wouldn't want to try to build it in mint state... talk about breaking the bank :D
