The coin is not a proof must has an S mint mark to be a proof for this year and I don't see a DD and no mint mark anywhere else. This is a spendable, business strike cent.

It's not a proof. A proof is a die finish that when it strikes a coin it imparts this finish on a die. You coin is a regular business strike coin and they didn't misplace the mint mark on these coins.

Tjm, Daniel will not steer you wrong you got that right. That ol' '68 you got there is a typical Philly 68. Nice heavy strike and good detail. Very cool looking coins. Man, when you look at those coins compared the the new ones they are minting now there is no comparison. Don't get me wrong, they can strike some mighty fine looking coins these days but back then they just felt like you had something in your hand when you carried them. lol

Don't know where this misprinted and misplaced mint mark came into being, but if you are being told by someone I wouldn't take their advice nor by a coin from them. There is such thing, you can have RPM ( Repunched Mint Mark). Example D/D (D over D), S/S (S over S). You also have OMM (Over Mint Mark) as in D/S (D over S), S/D (S over D). If you watch Daniel's YouTube channel (coinhelpu), you will finally understand what the last four examples actually mean. Also you should research about how coins are made, and you will discover why there can never be misprinted Mint Mark, Date or anything else on a US coin. JMO

I totally concur with Daniel, I don't see any D mint mark anywhere but if you do please Picart's it and put a circle around it so we can zoom in and see the D that you are saying that is there but it's really not.
