Do we need calipers for coin roll searching now?

I have been trying to figure out how some of the newer pennies (some where between 2000-2019) are Doubled Dies. When you look at known sites (not going to put them here again) and what the are calling Doubled Dies. You get a lot of "large extra thickness, mild extra thickness …….) along with extra thickness on ERTY with small notches on the upper left of RTY. When they are kind enough to place arrows to point out where these notches are, I could spend hours looking at where the arrows are pointing to, and still not see it. I am beginning to wonder if coin roll searching some time after 2000 till present, will require us to go out and buy some calipers to check each coins dates for "extra thickness" or maybe they could design a computer with the microscope permanently attached, along with some built in features to see any thickness issues. In My Opinion it has become to net picky for those of us who can not afford to go out purchase a 1,000 to 3,000 dollar HD microscope along with a monitor or some other viewing device.

Now that I have gotten that off my chest.

That maybe true for 2019, but what about the majority from other years 2000 till present. The vast majority of them are for slight, mild or strong thickness. Heck it could also be my eyesight, I know it stinks (I can barely see my computer screen without my glasses on). Also, I am not saying all this for some form of pity party, but out of frustration of trying to figure out what is what for the newer coins from 2000 and up. I am to the point where I am going to the PCGS Price Guide to look for the listed Doubled Dies. If I find something listed there, I'll then go to the other web sites to look. At this particular time, I would drive myself batty looking for all these extra thicknesses.
This is just my opinion on the matter

And this is why I don't pay attention to minor stuff, personally for me, I just don't have the time. At one time I did all this as well but moved away from this. I have several BU rolls of cents and they just sit, waiting.

I use a USB scope, but at the time it was rather expensive. It is nice to be able to put it on the computer monitor and be able to move the coin around with my fingers and watch it kicked back. Being able to adjust the light source is a must.

Now unless you attribute coins or make a living collecting and selling coins don't sweat the little stuff unless you have the time or you are like me, I just like to find stuff. If it is known I want to find it. I am a collector in the minority I believe because the value of the find means nothing. I am probably the 1 in a 100, 1000, 10,000 (?) that really don't look at grades and values when I find something. If you cannot see the extra width on the devices with hand magnifier or an inexpensive USB scope it probably isn't worth your time unless you are someone like me, just want to find it cause it is there.

If you believe you have found something go look at the Coppercoins, Wexler, Heritage, etc and see what has been found, if you have something that is pictured verify by checking the makers. But I am sure you know all this... LOL I understand your rant now. As for the 2019's, always ignore the 9 when looking for a DDO. lol
