Seller to be careful of

#1 Unread post by Isaiah »

the eBay seller rvkllc2007 is the one who sells questionable 1883 Hawaii dollars, 1883 Hawaii half dollars,Lafayette dollars, Hudson bay commem half dollars, Abraham Lincoln Half dollars, and sometimes more. And they are double listing under the identity "Greatreprocoins" too. If you want a counterfeit, their a great source, but if you want a genuine coin, avoid. They look like cast counterfeits to me. You can view their store here: http://stores.ebay.com/RVK-Curiosities_ ... idZ2QQtZkm

If they don't describe the coins as copies, reproductions or counterfeits then they are not honest. Also, any coin without copy on it is against the law and ebay policy. It's also against ebay policy to list these in authentic coin ebay catagories. So they should be reported.

I wonder if their the counterfeiters themselves? They've always got an ample supply of counterfeits, and they sell them for $25. It probably cost them nowhere near that to cast them.

The Chinese counterfeiters are always looking for dealers in the US to peddle their junk like it's authentic. So it could be they deal with them also.

Yes. I doubt very much that these are legit estate sales.

95%+ of ebay auctions making estate claims are not legit and I'm almost certain the percentage is closer to 100%.

It's usual that when a seller's auctions are reported on a forum that someone decides to report them. I saw that when I clicked the link earlier.

I actually did battle with a very nasty seller. I reported them twice and the second time I didn't leave any stone unturned on how they where manipulating their photographs. It wasn't easy because the seller has 100% feedback, but the coins where selling above the grade value they actually where. And manipulating photos and lighting to hide contact marks is misrepresenting an item and against ebay policy.

One person on collectors universe message board posted the same thing I saw about this seller and the seller raised such a fuss that the thread was pulled. I posted another thread to replace it and contacted the seller after I reported them the second time, and I got nasty emails and was reported to ebay by this seller.

I won that one, but I didn't think I would. Usually ebay sends complaints to a special ANA group and they determine for ebay if the complaint is legit. It would be a full time job without pay, but all of these sellers should be reported.
