2. Please remove coin from the holder unless it’s US or an official mint case or unless it is graded by a grading service.
3. Images should be taken by a camera or cell phone camera, we ask that members don’t use images through a microscope screen.
4. Always start your own topic, please don’t ask about your coin or post your coin in someone else’s coin topic.
5. Do not send private messages about your coin unless an Admin ask you too and the same for sending emails through the board.
6. No spam. Do not post any links to your coin or other non-coin websites.
7. Always be respectful even if something makes you upset or you don’t agree with a member. You can always get a second opinion elsewhere. If you have an issue then politely ask an admin in an PM. Re: 1909 Lincoln Wheat Cent ..... ON MARS !!
But practically worthless. hugeeyes Looks like Post Strike Damage from grout holding the coin in place. lol:
Also notice how the red Marian soil (or grout) gives it mint luster around the rim and devices, not! :l
I would really like to know and thank whoever came up with the idea of using a coin in this situation, especially Abe.
Another thing I just realized is that even with "all" the signs of water and ice that have been found this copper coin shouldn't be covered in verdis gris because there is no oxygen for the chemical reaction.

Interesting followup image.
Definite dulling/caking of dust to the surface.

Re: 1909 Lincoln Wheat Cent ..... ON MARS !!
I remember when they sent this to Mars years ago. There was a discussion about int on the forum and it prompted me to make the following graphic: of how they might find the coin when someone finally goes there and retrieves it:
Can you imagine the price this would bring on eBay? Might pay for te entire trip there.
Speaking of which, I actually have a legitimate rock from Mars. I also have a legitimate Martian as a friend. I also have an insulator from Mars. So I am not sure what all the hype is about sending a penny there.

My question is whether it is an 09 or an 09-VDB?
Could we ask Elon to go check that out?

What I find sad is he said he wanted to be there by 2025 quite a few years ago. Not sure why he slowed this down. Maybe (and sadly) too busy making cars?kurtspringmann wrote: ↑Sat Mar 23, 2024 9:42 pm My question is whether it is an 09 or an 09-VDB?

When I was a kid, and before the planned killing of American prosperity, as kids we we promised we would be there in the 80s and certainly by 2000. Now I wonder if I am going to live long enough to see someone take first hand pictures of this penny? Sad.
