1881-S PCGS Rattler MS grading set

#1 Unread post by rjp »

Here is a set that I put together over the years of collecting early holder,
The last grade needed just happened to be the cheapest coin but also the hardest coin to find.
I had used a MS-60 1921-D in a rattler for years until this one showed up on eBay. and although I say cheapest it really was more expensive the a 63 coin, I was not going to loose this coin, for me being cheap over a few bucks, so I bid high and meant to win!

Top Row:
MS-60 thru 66 with 62PL, 63PL, 64PL
Bottom Row:
10 81-S in serial number order. MS-63-65
Just happened to find it for sale and I just could not pass these up. I have always liked to get many items in order.

Nice! I love those Morgans..

I have been working on a dealer's website and he has a few OGH that I have been looking at myself. http://www.joelrettew.com/?s=old+green& ... pe=product

With these there's always a chance they're under graded a point, but with all the crack-outs these are getting more rare. I've also noticed that there's less choice coins to be found in the OGH's since the trend has been to resubmit over the last 15 years or so.

Thanks for the link
They are getting scarce and mostly you only see common coins in them as all of the rare coins have been resubmitted. But I have seen a 1893-S $ and a 1856 FE and some patterns coins.
I did also find a AU-58 1881-S rattlers for this set. It is in my grading set at PCGS.
Here is the link and check out my other sets.
