1996 American Silver Eagle

#1 Unread post by jesjon »

I just purchased a 1996 American Silver Eagle at a yard sale and did a little "resale" research online and discovered that this is a "key date" coin. What does that even mean? Is it valuable because it's 20 years old? I'll attach some photos of mine and maybe I can get a little professional insight and advice. I'm thinking about selling it but I don't want to be taken advantage of due to my naivete on the subject. Any advice would be appreciated although I'd prefer that the sharks stay in the water :h

Age has nothing to do with value, also the coin has been cleaned and it is not certified so it's worth less than your research. However, it is still worth more than a regular mintage Silver Eagle because it has a lower mintage than most Silver Eagles.

Ebay final values in green numbers is what this is going to sell for.
