Hello all! First I'd like to thank everyone for all of their help and patience! So many coins, so little time!
This quarter looks like it has some striking errors (LIBERTY seems like it was struck on the collar?) and the obverse rim seems split on the bottom where there is a missing piece on the rim and also on the reverse side.
Thoughts?
1982-P Quarter Errors?

Re: 1982-P Quarter Errors?
you will find, over time, the more & more coins you closely inspect,.....you'll learn "HOW/WHERE" they wear down from circulation.....
keeping in mind that a "EDS" (early die state) coin, will wear differently than a "LDS" (late die state) coin....
:eureka:
if you look at the 'edge reeding' in your picture #4, you can see this coin has significant
edge "RUB" (A.K.A. = circulation wear), as evidant by the worn down/flattened reeding......which leads me to the 'LIBERTY' that appears as if it's struck very near the 'coin edge', with no 'gap' between the 'lettering tops' & the 'rim'.......but is just from the heavier wear circulation here
the reverse 'rim dinger' at K10-K11 looks like "PMD" (post mint damage) to me from these pics......IMO

Will wear also cause a letter to lose its original form? See the T in this 1944-S wheat penny

That would be an unfortunate "ding" where the letter was struck by something: typically either another coin, or a coin counter, that results in displacing the metal of the raised letter and leaving shiny material where the metal once was. Other dings, just leave strange dents in the coin.

&,.....this is why we here do what we do,...to save you,.....to guide you away from the deceitful pitfalls that plague this hobby/business/investment that have become so abundant in today's world.....MissSmartyPants wrote:Thank you so much for your help! :eureka:
this, like any specialist (doctor/dentist/master sculptor), spends years, & devotes their time to becoming the best they can at that specific 'xyz',......& hopefully, can pass on some of that knowledge/experience to those that seek guidance to be fair.
 keep in mind,....you do not pick up numismatics by reading a book, surfing the net, or buying a scope.......the "hands/eyes on" coins, 100's, even 1000's of coins, to 'learn' what is needed to be called an expert.
first you crawl, then you walk, & in the end, you can run....
TODAY'S THOUGHT:
BUY THE BOOK BEFORE YOU BUY THE COIN,....
& BUY THE COIN, NOT THE SLAB
