Re: New macro shot setup

Nolife you are a genius. I bought one of those cheap camera scopes. It works if you can control distance well. I am trying to use your idea with that little scope by anchoring much like you did. I hope you do not mind if I try to copy your arrangement. I am using your picture for guidance.Your imag...

Re: New macro shot setup

Thanks guys. I ended up spending about $30, but that included a 2 sockets and a wired in dimmer. For all the pictures you see I actually am using the light source I bought with one bulb taken out. I can just move the one bulb around and hold it. I can use the dimmer for more or less light. I also to...

Re: New macro shot setup

Well I played with it until my camera was just about dead (it's recharging now) and I got some great pictures IMO. I can't wait to try this out with my better digital camera. The one I'm using is a 8.2 megapixel fugi. I think I have a 12 or 16 megapixel camera that I can try lol: To answer your ques...

New macro shot setup

I spent the afternoon working on a new setup for taking macro shots of coins. What do you guys think? I have an external light source with a dimmer switch, but not hooked up. It's going to need some more tweaking and I think I can get along better with out it. http://i920.photobucket.com/albums/ad47...

Re: 1969D No FG question

I have one that has some potential, but I'm thinking it might just be a greased filled strike. If all the details are sharp and still no fg is that a good sign for the real deal?

Was this error from a overpolished die, or grease filled or were the initials completely left off the die somehow?

1969D No FG question

Hi guys I just picked up a cherrypickers guide finally. It has some neat varieties and one that I've never looked for is the 1969D no FG. I was just curious if anybody knows how rare these are or how strong the collectors market is for them?

Re: Possible 2nd 1972 DD this week

I think I see a slight version of the die mark on your coin. Just remember these have die stages and states, so they might not look exactly like the pictures. Your coin could be EDS (early die state) and Stage A,B,C or LDS (Late Die State) and a certain stage. The MDS is medium die state so they al...

I have found a few proofs over the years in pocket change and as a cashier even. I know some shops don't care to deal with them especially if they are newer proofs. So low resell on them might make owners less worried about spending them :dunno

Any chance of this being an acid dipped coin? I know we've have similar coins come up on this forum and that was the verdict on those. RHM22 I believe chimed in on that verdict Daniel.

Thanks for all your replies. Just curious, what does one do with all their strike doubles? Keep them, perhaps in 10 years may be a collectible item? Throw them in the worthless pile? I personally only keep a couple just for reference. I usually keep the more dramatic examples off to the side. If yo...

The angles make it tough but I'd say this is strike doubling and not a doubled die. Strike double is very common on coins and doesnt add any value to the coin.

$1000 in pennies is a lot of coins and it took me a few months. Im sure I have some errors that I dont catch. When I search I only check for maybe a dozen different varietys. So it speeds things up quite a bit. Ill have to sit down and come up with a list and post it.

I've never dabbled much in other denominations. I'd rather have 10 bags of pennies to go through than one bag of a denomination that I could find silver in.
