They charged $8 per coin, but they expected a lot more, at least a hundred. They only charged for slabbed. The bulk submissions guy told me not to send any more 1959 rolls.! Those deals were in the mid 2000 decade. They have since become more cut throat. If you have a lot of coins that may grade and ...

Pretty coin. I bet it got banged around as a bulk submission. I sent NGC some 1959 pennies, looking for 65 or betters. Got them back, but several were scratched.( 400 coins 10 65s and one 66!) 1959 pennies are horrible.

Many of these have been known for decades. There should be a time limit, a statute of limitations, if you will. As time goes on facts become cloudy or even change , next they will confiscate coins from the 1800s. Boo

Re: Is this a mint error? Valuable?
I found that many coins were used as necklaces or bracelets. Some times the date of the coin is the birth year of the wearer. The mint cannot hole a coin by mistake, it is not possible in the process. The hole at the top means some one wanted to wear it obverse side out.

Re: 1944 D Quarter Struk-Thru Material ??
It looks like metal scrap from a lathe. As a kid I used to have a summer job running equipment in a gasket factory. This looks like that material. The lathe would hollow out cold rolled steel blanks to allow an asbestos gasket to fit in. It used a corundum tool which made beautiful metal spaghetti, ...

No offense but a silver round is a silver round. There are no more $ for style points. They are barter pieces tied to the current price of the precious metal they are made of. Coins of a country can have intrinsic numismatic added value.

This coin might not grade. It is a good strike, but there is a blackish color on the back of his head and coat. It does not look like the classic Browning of a cent. It is r/b everywhere else. 1965 pennies are another example of poor mass produced coins. They do not get valuable until ms67.SMS coins ...

Re: selling graded coins
A lot of times a dealer will send bulk coins to NGC and specify a minimum grade, All gem or better in a holder, below gem return. If there are enough coins, NGC will not charge for the ungraded coins.. I did this with 1959 pennies, gem or better. Well, 1959 P pennies are low quality. Out of 200 coin...

That roll was wrapped by or for the mint. There is no extra significance that I know of. They did not advertise them to be handled with gloves, so they may or may not be worth more in the wrapper. I hesitate to open bank wrapped coins, so I would not open them.

Spike, as long as it is as advertised, you are fine. I bought some troy ounces that were a Chrysler corp. incentive from the 1980s. It said one troy ounce and they were. They are what they are, not coins but silver. Apmex is a very straightforward company. I trust them.

The quarter and dime may have been hammered or placed in a powerful vise. They were not damaged at the mint. They show circulation. The nickel shows exposure to water or liquid. Also has circ. wear. Sorry
