This is environmental damage. I metal detect and they come out of the ground looking like this. Sometimes even darker.

The first image is a little hard to tell but they both look like 1982 large dates.

The 1982 D small date copper (3.1g) is the one that is valuable.

Potentially a split planchet but would need to be examined in hand, ... That's a whole lotta copper to sort. Thanks for the weight of 3.12 grams. With the lite striations on the obverse, I was wondering the same as Daniel. But with the weight being 3.12 grams, I can't see it being struck on a split...

I would say yes because of the way some of the design is visible between missing letters.
I don't think heavy abrasion from Die Polishing would skip around like that.

P, Did Live Auctioneers or did Key Dates Auctions (AKA Silver Trades) have that many listings for graded coins? Do a search for Key Date Auctions at the link provided and a bunch of Morgan dollar ender rolls pop up. The rolls are the "window" style that were popular in the 50's & 60's ...

I think you are correct about this being struck through grease since the devices are missing or very faint on the left side of the obv.

"The" 1969s DDO and MD are different animals. yours does have the MD but no doubling from the working hub.
