Re: Fractional Newp.

The only sheets I've seen for the federal fractionals have one denomination. Obsolete currency comes in multiples tho. I have a couple state of South Carolina fractional sheets but I can't seem to attach them to this post.

Re: Fractional Newp.

Thank you Pete. The John Ford auction catalog says that specimens were sold to the public as counterfeit detection devices. Wide margins like this one were sold to the public. Narrow margins were used in currency shields. Many second and third issue notes were printed on CSA watermarked paper. All F...

Re: Fractional Newp.

Thank you Daniel. I left off the grade in the photo. It's a 58. PCGS doesn't comment on paper quality either.

Fractional Newp.

I decided to upgrade my fractional currency collection. I wanted a Hand signed note, so I found a specimen that was in great condition. I can't grade currency to save my life, but this has no stains, no foxing, no pinholes. The bronzing glitters. If this a 58, a mintstate example must really be amaz...

Re: Civil War Tokens

I believe Spoot is an error. There are a number of specimens available so it is barely scarce. There is another of the DIX tokens that is in demand and that is the 416a, in which the word Shoot is recut.

The colors survived the circulation well. The uncirculated specimen is ver colorful. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Any major VAM collectors on here?

My eyesight must be failing me. The OP referr d to 1880-O 6A, not 1884. The 1880-O 6A is identified by a short spike off the top of the second 8 that they say is the remnant of the top serif of the 7. Small O mintmark and some clashing. It's Not one of the more easily identifiable over dates In the ...

There are people who collect fake CC dollars to have a "complete date set." Just have to find them

Re: Any major VAM collectors on here?

The 1891-CC spitting eagle is a popular VAM variety and it is probably the most common variety of the date and mint mark. When I purchased my 1891-CC it was one of 5 my dealer had slabbed by PCGS and all were spitting eagles. vamWorld lists an 1884-O VAM 6 which is a far date and a repunched mint ma...

Here are descriptions and photos of genuine mint marks and the genuine VDB. The OPs coin looks like the third mint mark position and correct mint mark usage.

Re: 1985D Linc.cent off center strike/offset rotation/dd stamping/both sides & more

Also pictures of the entire coin with some marking of the 2x2 or a staple placement can determine how much the coin is rotated if at all. I have a few 2 cent pieces, 1864 and 1865 that are rotated 180 degrees. And an Indian Cent.

A picture of the entire coin would have been helpful. It looks to me about 40-50% off center.

Re: 1895 morgan is it real??help

I just noticed the post that the OPs coin has a rubbed out S mintmark. I can't figure out yet how to post a photo, but there are 7 VAM varieties associated with 1895-S. Six have photos of the date. http://www.vamworld.com/1895-S+VAMs The date placement is the same on all 6. The left edge of the 1 be...

Here are photos of an authentic 1895 proof. Otherwise, I certainly agree with all comments posted previously.
