Re: Looking for Help on 'Total Population Strikes'

Sorry, but absolutely no help to you on this one. That would be real helpful information but I would think it would vary somewhat by composition of a coin in a series. Copper vs. Zincolns, Jefferson nickel vs. silver and so forth. I have seen a post in the last month or so on a forum (LCF?) where s...

Re: Small planchet

Mark, I believe he is saying it looks like a "wheel" that would run on a track. The copper core does NOT extend out to the clad layer. Can the Op provide images of the front and back to look for clues? Also this is where a measurement on the diameter would be helpful to see if it meets mint toleran...

Re: Found in my pocket change...

Certainly is some post strike damage but there also seems to be some weakness in the devices above and below the Memorial, which is why I was wondering about the weight. Just trying to rule out possible mint errors. (thin or split planchet, struck through grease, lamination or others). As an exampl...

Re: 1985D Linc.cent-broadstrike/offset strike/dd stamping/both sides & more

Can't really tell if there might be remnants of a clash or die gouge on the reverse also. In bay 10 & 11 (counting from the left) there is extra metal, slightly off-horizontal.

Re: 1985 Cent/ missing FG on reverse..

Hey there. Those missing initials are an eye catcher for sure. But I'm thinking there are at least two things going on. A heavily polished and abraded older die causing very thin/weak devices. And it looks like there was some damage (ding or gouge) at exactly the spot where the initials should be, ...

Re: 1950 DDR lincoln cent and 1966 Quarter ?

The quarter definitely looks to be Mechanical Doubling. Hard to see the Lincoln cent because it blurs when enlarged.

Re: 83 Lb. ATOCHA SHIPWRECK SILVER BAR FOR SALE !!

That's a whole "lotta silva". I liked the part of the description from the auction house where it describes a few areas of pitting that allowed some barnacles to grow!
That is some unique PMD (Post Mint Damage) lol: hugeeyes
