The '6' is deformed because it was once crimped in a coin rolling machine. This would be considered damage, which occurred after it left the mint. The 'D' is filled due to a tiny break in the die where the center of the 'D' partially broke off. It's called a die chip and add no value to the coin as...

i have to agree with "PMD" here from these pics,
it looks as if the 'raised area' gets more "rub" than the other areas, & looks 'lighter' in color,........JMO

..... look for the years with the "fewest numbers" of these ..... JMO
