Re: 1982 MD question

Yes it is Machine Doubling Damage and a good strong example of it. Some may refer to it as Machine Doubling or Strike Doubling as well.

Here are copies I took some pics of. Not the best but I try. As Daniel said you will need to match up die markers for a proper attribution. Hope this helps.

To me this appears to be machine doubling on the east of the MM and a small hit to the bottom.

Re: 1970 D nickel error. help please!

This appears to me to be post strike damage similar to what happens to a "Dryer Coin". Attached is an example of what I am talking about where the rim rolls down over the field and devises. However lets see what others have to say on this coin.

1934D Mercury Dime RPM

Was going through my Mercury Dime album and saw this RPM that I missed several other times looking through it. 1934D RPM2. I've seen a lot reported on the RPM1 but this one is hard for me to find much information on. Also looks to be struck through at the date.

Appears to me to be environmental damage. Stains and corrosion. Don't see any doubling.

Looks like it may be an RPM#3. There were so may rpm's for 1960 it sometimes takes a lot of research to attribute.

Re: Sal's RD Error

Just an opinion, but with the dull surfaces, pitting and the apparent erosion of the copper layer it appears that this occurred as post strike damage. Possibly some sort of acid dip.

Re: Answer riddles to win a roll of Wheat Cents or two

1). 1912-S Liberty V Nickel and the 1909-S VDB Lincoln Cent - Lowest mintages in their series 2). 1916-D Mercury Dime and the 1914-D Lincoln Cent - Both are highly counterfeited or faked 3). 1937D Three Leg Buffalo - Polishing to remove clash marks also removed the leg. Don't know if I am on the rig...

These appear to me as random hits. I see several of them on the obverse and reverse of the coin. Those on the ribbon also do not match up with the angle of the diamonds lines.

Is the coin inside a flip or encased in something. If so the photos would probably be a lot better if it wasn't. Sorry hard to tell.
