Re: 1953-D variety?
Thank both of you for your help. I am trying to learn as much as I can about errors and varieties. I am having more fun with coins now than I have had. Originally, I just stuck with Morgan and Peace dollars because it was easier for me and I didn't want to branch out. I have, however, started to go ...

1953 Possible Error Identification
I found a 1953 with what appears to be a spike going into/coming out of Lincolns head. I was wondering What, if any, type of error this would be classified as so if I come across anything similar in the future I will know.

Morgan dollar weight tolerance
Hi,
I was trying to see what the maximum weight tolerance is on a Morgan? I have one that is some what slick that weighs 25.41 grams. It isn't magnetic and sounds the same as other dollars I have.
Thank you,
Claude J Will

New Find: 1934-D/D RPM-001?
I was about to put this coin in my album to upgrade another I had, I then took a closer look and it appears to be the 1934-D rpm-001 going by the image provided on doubledie.com.

Possible 1958-D Die Clash
I found the following coin today which looks like it has some lettering going over parts of the lower portion of the device and date, not completely sure that is what it is. I have looked at over 70,000 wheat cents as well as a large amount of memorial cents and have never seen anything exactly like...

Re: What is your favorite USB microscope and why
The main reason I would be interested in a microscope is so I could see coins at 5,10,15x on my screen, I have a medical issue with my eyes where if I just spend a few minutes with a loupe, I can't read or see much of anything else for hours. I do need to get back to the eye doctor. I noticed when I...

I came across this a few minutes ago going through some wheat cents. This will make the 3rd example I've found. Verified using varietyvista.com, coppercoins.com, and doubleddie.com.

Re: 1929 Penny DDO
I would say go somewhere like doubleddie.com, coppercoins.com, varietyvista.com and look at the images of known DDOs for any year in question. If you study those long enough you'll get an idea of what they look like.

An "old" Find
Hi, This particular item isn't a coin, but a document related to certain cents my grandfather who I never met wrote in the 60s. I was watching a video on Youtube that inspired me to finish filling some really old Whitman folders which belonged to him and found the page inside. It's a list of what my...

Re: 1957-D RPM-003?
I would say it would have to be C, it doesn't have the die thing going off of T in trust, it does appear to have the remnants of a 3rd D coming off the back of the D:

Minor 1955 DDO
Hi,
I came across the following which I believe is the Coppercoins 1955-1DO-008 or WDDO-009. The doubling on this one is found on BERTY in Liberty:
I updated the post with a clearer image of BERTY

Re: Minor 1955 DDO
One thing I always do is take the time to do research on different varieties, I use multiple sources to help me identify different varieties. I am starting to move into VAMs for Morgans as well. On the note of resources, I have the newest edition of the Cherry pickers guide per-ordered. Originally i...

Re: Minor 1955 DDO
@Daniel, that's the main reason I do it is for fun. It would be nice to find a more valuable variety. Until then I'll just keep going through these. Occasionally I come across semi key dates. I have found a few more valuable varieties in the past like a 1941 DDO FS-102.

Re: Minor 1955 DDO
๐๐๐ At this point, you might consider chasing after much higher grade uncirculated red coins if I ever had the money, I have a source where I can get full sealed mint bags by dates for wheat cents. Some of the cents I get in what I can source right now are 'higher" quality and in some cases re...

Cleaned or BU, A second 1899-S
Hi, as stated in the post with the other coin, I am trying to find a "details" free example of an 1899-S for my collection, at the same time I'm trying not to have to pay an overinflated price for what the coin may or maybe actually be. (i believe the rules are to have separate posts for s...

Re: Cleaned or BU, A second 1899-S
After looking at the images for a bit, it seems like it "could" have a "semi-pl" surface on the obverse at least. This is based off of images from other coins I have bought raw than had a semi-pl surface.

Re: 1945 Merc Dime Micro S Grade?
I agree with Daniel on using photo grade. With certain coins I send off that I know aren't mint state I've started using photo grade before I send them just to see what I think it might be and then see what it comes back as. Micro-S is a nice variety. I'm still trying to get one that's MS and has FSB.

2016 shield cent plating error?
Hi, I was wondering what this would be considered, there isn't much copper on the coin, it mostly has the zinc color to it, there's nothing on the coin that would suggest it was artificially removed. Well, I thought I would add an update on why I need a USB x10 scope or something else to look at coins, and a loupe makes my vision blurry. Question on grading and weak struck Morgans (Orleans Mint)
Hi, I wanted to know if Morgans can still get an MS grade if they have all of the qualities of an MS coin as eye-appealing mint luster and not many scratches (compared to other coins I've seen in MS holders). However, the device's details are weak in some areas due to a potential strike due to it be...
