I BOUGHT A 1975 CANADA COIN SET AT A CLUB AUCTION. BID ON IT JUST BECAUSE I HAD NOTHING LIKE IT. PAID $ 2.50 THE PLASTIC HOLDER IS IN GOOD SHAPE AND ALL COINS ARE GOOD EXCEPT THE PENNY WHICH IS TARNISHED IN EXCESS OF 50%. DO I HAVE ANOTHER AUCTION ITEM OR SIT ON IT AWHILE? ANY INFO WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

THANK YOU

Is your set in a rigid plastic holder or thin cellophane?

RIDGID-- DOES NOT LOOK TO OPENED MORE THAN A HANDFULL OF TIMES IF EVEN THAT. THE END FLAP THAT IS USED FOR REMOVAL IS WELL STUCK TO THE BODY OF HOLDER. CARDBOARD THAT COINS RESTS IS NOT BENT NOR STAINED NOR APPEAR TO HAVE BEEN HANDLED AT ALL.

Well, the value really isn't very much for this set. I would say around $5 with the holder. The face value of the set $1.91 Canadian (about $1.75 U.S.), so you really can't go wrong with $2.50. I'd pay $2.50 for the holder.

Next time you go to that auction, be on the lookout for Canadian proof-like sets dated 1967 or earlier, because they are 80% silver and worth over $19.00 for silver value alone. Prooflike sets are usually in thin cellophane.
