A Liberty head on the obverse faces left with the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around and the date below. A headdress consists of four feathers and four stars, and a ribbon is inscribed UNION & LIBERTY. Below the bust is LONGACRE F. The reverse has an ornate shield superimposed with a large V. Above, the motto IN GOD WE TRUST. Struck in aluminum with a plain edge. It is thought that 100 examples of this pattern variety were struck, and that figure is consistent with the current rarity rating.
