I had a jar of coins from about 50 years ago and was going through my coins to put in wrappers when this 1947 Roosevelt dime caught my eye. The reverse side has an elongated torch to the D in Dime making the D to appear wider with double lines. I saw on your site of the 2007 Roosevelt dime about it’s torch having extra metal. Could this be a mint error also? I would appreciate your expertise and information that you can provide. I also can provide you with pictures if needed. Thank You.

  • I would need to see a picture of the coin. It would be nice if you could join our free forum and post a picture.

Does anyone know of a 2007 U.S. Dime stamped on to a Copper (Penny) Blank? The edges are also smooth and Penny like. If so what value do these misfits carry with them? Also have a half Dime, half penny coin and it’s thin like a Dime with the two different Metals, I’m thinking someone fashioned this one in their workshop though, to many peculiarities…Get back with me if you have a response for me. PS I don’t have a camera. Thanx CuriousCoin

  • Too bad you can’t take a picture or a scan of the coin, but there’s many examples, although rare enough, of coins struck on the wrong planchet, and they are valuable if authenticated by a reputable grading service like PCGS, NGC, ANACS, or ICG. Would like to see the coin.
